About
the Artist
Born in Chicago in 1907, son of Hans Gustafson-Falk, he is a fifth
generation artist. He began his painting career in his early twenties.
After 40 years as a fine artist and illustrator in the midwest, he moved to San Francisco, where he began to devote his full time as a fine art painter.
Upon arriving in San Francisco, Falk's love affair with the magical city sparked his creative ability to depict what each individual sees and feels on his or her first visit.
The Artist/Philosopher reached a long-awaited plateau in his life, where his work reflects a unique understanding of subject matter and also a sensitivity for the beautiful and exciting intricacies of color.
His paintings have been acquired by collectors across the United States and in Europe.
Mystique
of San Francisco ....
One and only ...
There is no other!
Out
of the fog, into the light,
dimming, splashing, fading
and reappearing,
the unique dream or reality
which marks
San Francisco's cable car
as a true phenomenon.
Real?
Unreal?
It's in the eye of the beholder.
The
legend is chronicled
in history.
The reality exists today
on the streets of San Francisco,
where youth, middle-aged,
the old of all nations
relive a past which may not
have ever existed.
Out
of the fog into the past,
in brilliance comes the work
of Falk, whose infinite vision
has captured for all time
the wonder that is,
the wonder that may have been,
the wonder that may be.
Matt
Falk retained the essence
of every wanderer
who having exhausted a world
of travel, knows that
in San Francisco
the historic cable car
symbolizes the greatest dream
that is or ever will be.
Falk
emerged from
San Francisco as a chronicler
of the cable car,
with incisive feeling
that conveys to the world
the legend as few can.
